Soil
and Groundwater
Contamination
DTS Raeburn can provide
tailor made solutions for a wide variety of ground contamination and risk
assessment issues. We have expertise in carrying out detailed
appraisals of the risks to human health, development end use, controlled waters
and ecological receptors. These are undertaken using a tiered approach.
- TIER 1 - Development of
an Initial Conceptual Site Model using the accepted Source-Pathway-Receptor
linkage.
- TIER 2 - Selection of
appropriate generic screening criteria including CLEA Soil Guideline Values,
Environmental Quality Standards and UK Water Supply (Water Quality)
Standards and comparisons to measured contaminant concentrations.
- TIER 3 - Derivation of
site-specific assessment criteria, using accepted Risk Assessment Tools,
including CLEA, RBCA, SNIFFER and Environment Agency R&D Publication 20.
Undertaking groundwater flow and hydrological modeling using appropriate
software packages.
Where
necessary we also undertake consultations with regulatory bodies during the risk
assessment stage in order to enhance the ease of subsequent reviews and
approvals.
